  1. Train police to spot child traffickers and rescue children

We could use the money saved from defunding Planned Parenthood to train police to spot child traffickers and rescue children.

Information on a very successful training program out of Texas is in this article from the Washington Post:

    • Judicial Marshal open positions

Allow retired State Troopers work as Judicial Marshals for full pay and longer than 5 years. They would be a less expensive employee for the Judicial Branch. They would not need health insurance as health benefits are being received through retirement. The state would not have to pay into the retirement plan for these employees. Working for the State again these employees would not add to their retirement. Most of all you would have access to a highly trained and motivated pool of employees.

      • Have data base on criminals from prisons in or out and public criminals.

To many red flags go on notice: convicts imprison and release should be on some type of code on thief mandatory Nationwide. The state can use the same method with a person who goes before any court. This must be kept for life update daily. The dress code for schools should be looked at. Restriction to low shows of body parts and shirts with logo of bad taste and promotion of violent things or or games. Dress as if their at work now should be the standard, or interview at a job in corparate business. Even tech jobs look for…

        • The Prisoner Performance Report PPR Should be done away with as Costing tax payers to house inmates longer for silly things

The Maine Department of Corrections has a PPR system that is abused and is costing tax payers millions to house inmates in the correctional facilities longer for such things as dust in the inmate's window thus four guys in a cell at MMC lose four days each of good time thus costing tax payers 16 days of extra incarceration cost. For dust and or made up things correctional staff can make up and do not have to justify. Warden Scott Landry goes along with this and encourages his staff to do this. Thus costing the tax payer.

Let the citizens chose our judges, overseer of the Bar and judicial responsibility and disability panels, so abused women and children , instead of becoming homeless, destitute and severely in debt , have an equal right to a fair trial. The abused women and children become a ward of the state and the abuser is awarded their multimillion dollar estate through fraud upon the court and legal malpractice . The state would not be responsible for the care of abused women and children if we had a honest legal system

            • Lower the age to be a law enforcement officer to 18/19.

In the state of Maine, an 18 year old can legally own and openly carry a firearm. To be a police officer in Maine, you need to be 21 or 20 with 60 college credits and that is because you carry a firearm. In the state of Florida, you can become a state trooper at the age of 19. With all of the police discrimination these days, and the CONSTANT vacancies in police departments, why not let a qualified 18/19 year old that has a passion to protect and serve his/her community, have that opportunity and fill the void. It…

                • They should have house arrest for some inmates

Some inmate are sorry for what they have done. I feel if a inmate was sincere enough to turned himself or herself in. I believe they should have house arrest for their crime depending on their situation. I feel this would save tax's payers and over crowded jail.

Fine cities and people for not stopping and preventing wood smoke health and safety problems to pay for enforcement. All health problems must be stopped and prevented by DHHS Essential Services derived form constitutional law. Not enforcing health and safety rules, regs, and laws is a crime. Governors must enforce the law and protect constitutional rights to life, health and safety. Not doing so violates oaths of office, federal criminal codes and state criminal codes such as criminal negligence and gross criminal negligence since people are dying, getting injured, and disabled. Economic payback for enforcement is 30 times cost per…

                        • How about more probation officers working on the street

i work in corrections and i hear probationers say that they can do what they want as long as they show up clean. how about we do what other states do and have the officers working the street more and doing more random checks instead of sitting in an office and meeting with the offenders. surprise visits day and night works better.

                            • Inmates shouldn't have privileges

Why should inmates have cable tv while incarcerated, even if its a privilege. If anything they should have the basic channels 6,8,10,12 and the religion channel. United States Military eat MRE's dont have tv and half the times sleep in a hole in the ground or in a truck, they dont get a hot meal everyday or even eat. Money can be cut by not having catered meals boxes of MRE's are a cheap source to switch too. Inmates dont deserved to live with a roof over their heads if a soldier who lays their life on the line out…

An Act to Prohibit Interference of Custody

Many states have already adopted this law and the general purposes of this act are to:
                                1. Discourage continuing controversies over child custody in the interest of greater stability of home environment and of secure family relationships for the child;
                                2. Promote cooperation with the parents/legal guardians, courts, and law enforcement of this state to the end that a custody decree is rendered and followed.

Custodial interference can be defined simply as the taking/keeping of a child from his or her parent with the intent to interfere with that parent’s physical custody of…

                                • new law: Interference of Custody

Currently, there isn't a law in the State of Maine protecting children from being removed from the state, area, families, schools, or routine… by a parent with shared custody.

This phrase/term Interference of Custody is used by other states would correct the issue.

Custodial interference can be defined simply as the taking/keeping of a child from his or her parent with the intent to interfere with that parent’s physical custody of the child. This is a crime in most states, even if the offending parent also has custody rights.

                                  • Scared straight program, also juvenile facilities are more along the lines of boot camp.

Kids are now becoming more into crime life rather than staying straight. If the teen can see what real prison is like then maybe they'd realize that i should straighten out, if they don't send them to a juvenile facility, but have that facility trained with former military drill instructors, correctional officers trained in drill instructor setting and prior service members that know what discipline is.

                                    • The COURT SYSTEM IS CLOGGED WITH CASES. We need to make the entire system electronic; raise filing costs in the Law Court from $150 to $2500

Reduce Maine's general statute of limitations from 6 to 4 years; change system to Loser pays other side'[s legal fees ( as in Alaska, & in some types of cases in TX & FL); ask Courts to impose greater fines & reduce jail time to cut costs; reduce terms & sentences for felonies to those in line with other states; institute new parole board to release prisoners early if rehabilitated, & to reduce incarceration cost; make non profits pay salesm lodging & income taxes. Force local districts to consolidate to save tax money. Increase bankruptcy exemptions.

                                        • Why not utilize citizen volunteers in your law enforcement agencies for non critical functions?

Volunteers in Police Service: President George W. Bush created USA Freedom Corps (USAFC) to build on the countless acts of service, sacrifice, and generosity that followed September 11.
