  1. Please do not increase the ferry cost to Islesboro so unfairly

There is a proposed 120% increase in the cost of the ferry from Islesboro to the Mainland. The current $13.75 round trip is scheduled to be increased to $30 for car and driver and the cost for a round trip for a passenger from $5 to $11. There are some wealthy people who live on Islesboro, but most of the people who live there are working class people who work hard and play by the rules. This will make it impossible for some of them to continue to live there. The Islesboro ferry takes about 15 minutes to travel 3…

      • Local Farmers Shop

In the current world all the prices are increasing and quality of the goods are decreasing, one of the mainly spoiled things is the food we are consuming, the vitamins; minerals etc. which generally used to be there in foods have decreased a lot. We still have local Farmers who grow organic food, if we can give them some space to sell their products all seven days it will decrease the fuel consumption from transportation, Lessing the pollution, encouraging farmers, people can get fresh local (BEST) stuff, Cost of storing in freezers will be decreased, since it is all local…

As a mainer i am in a view that if we could get a train from Augusta to Portland which can increase Revenue by the people going to work , going for malls , traveling from maine for a long weekend ,
traveling to maine for a long weekend , less use of personal transportation , able to travel in cold weather etc

          • Promoting Commercial Air Cargo in Maine

Preface:Commercial Air Cargo is using scheduled airlines to move products also known as belly freight . In the early 1990s belly freight moved nearly 300,000 pounds of freight on a monthly basis between 3 airlines . After the events of 911 and the concerns of security and restructing of the airlines caused the movement of cargo to drop significantly to the point that most airlines stopped serving Portland with air cargo . The shippers that would ship their products out of Portland had to find alternatives to move their goods. This meant driving to Boston or in some cases the…

            • Keep scenic areas and picnic areas open until Mid Novemebr and some year round

MDOT closes picnic areas and scenic locations mid October during fall travel. This impacts tourism. There are few places left for people to stop and enjoy Maine's treasures. Please tell MDOT to keep Maine open. It makes no sense to close Small Falls, RT 4 Letter E when they have 2 MDOT crews that frequent there. Keep Maine open for business which includes tourism.

                • Bill people for safety problems the cause on our roads

If someone causes a safety problem and the DOT or public works has to respond to it they should be billed for it . recent problems are 1.improperly extending an entrance culvert causing water to run in the road in the winter .2. plowing snow over the end of an entrance culvert ,causing water to run over the entrance .3 Plowing snow into drainage , then calling to complain that drain isn't working .4 raking leaves into drainage ditch causing culverts to plug and washing out the shoulder of the road and the water freezing onto the road.

                  • Have wood crews cutting along state roads cut all the way to the road . Instead of leaving a buffer.

THE WOODS CREW GETS THE WOOD AND THE STATE DOESN'T HAVE TO GO IN AFTERWARDS AND CUT THE RIGHT OF WAY .OR BLOWDOWNS FROM THE LARGER TREES BEING TAKEN

                    • Brush up on traffic awareness

How about some commercials or signs reminding people of proper driving practices. For instance, commercial or sign reminding drivers that the Yield sign is exactly what it states.. Yield. Not go without looking and expect everyone else to move.. or turn signals are there for a reason.

                      • Flat fee excise tax

With many states having no excise tax, and Maine having one of the highest excise tax rates, I propose having a "flat" rate or fee of $100.00. Plus the state registration fee(currently around $35.00). This idea would provide a better incentive to purchase a new vehicle as well. As of now a new vehicle costing $35,000 would cost you over $700.00 to register the first year. A old unefficent car over 10 years old might only cost $60.00. What are your thoughts?

                        • New state inspection rules for personal autos/light duty trucks

This plan is simple. A new personal vehicle will not be subject to a state vehicle inspection for the first five years after purchase.New vehicles do not have the typical rust or breakdown of wearable parts that older ones do, and the police can still impound a vehicle they deem unsafe for state highway at anytime. This idea saves consumers money and gives us all an incentive to purchase a new vehicle, which the state and local municipality will benefit from excise tax, sales tax, and registration fees. Feedback anyone?

                          • License Plate / New Return Policy

My idea to to require license plates "metal tags" to be returned back to the town office and/or DMV after the person is finished with them. Rather then the person keeping the plates indefinitely and possily using then illegally on another vehicle. To impose a fine, such as $125.oo if the metal license plates are not returned within say 10 days after being expireed/invalid. Also additional fines of say $15.oo a day, everyday there after they are not recieved by DMV or issueing office. A large amount of revinew for the state with a portion of that going back to…

                            • I agree with the costly corruption going on with BMV but this all comes from the top.

. . with new technology why should customers(public should have to call in the BMV to pay for reinstatment fees when there could be a system like all other state BMV systems to pay there reinstatment fee's online. this could reduce work force to some of the managers/managements. Examiners only work 6 months a year so failing student drivers keeps them employed.

                              • Offer perks to businesses that offer virtual business support services

With the vast array of technology options available, many companies could utilize outsourced virtual contractors to meet general opperating and administrative needs. This would save commuter time and expenses, increase efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and encourage job creation in rural areas
