    • Fix lottery so at months end, select until computer finds a winner, No super lg. pots.

No one needs 500,000,000 and would most probably leave Maine, I would rather see 12 or more smaller winners throughout Maine, where it would benefit more people and the State of Maine, The odds are ridiculous !

      • Methadone helps a number of addicts. Please realize what a lifesaving medication it is for many of us who live tax-payin, law-abiding lives

Methadone is life saving for many people and to cut back on what is available could be deadly or at the least, extremely difficult for many. Unfortunately, those who do not become law-abiding citizens and who do not abstain from all drugs and alcohol are more obvious and the rest of us are stigmatized. Many of us live tax-paying, law-abiding lives and methadone has been life saving. Hopefully, more of us who are leading worthy sober lives will come forward so that people could see how common it is. I am a contributing member of society and have been for…

        • Business, form a state group to going out and speak to large Businesses find out there needs

Have a Committee to feel the data into a system the the ones in the field is sending back. Have people look for land that would meet the needs of the business. I am a big believer of rail service to move good. Also a big believer in an east west highway. Turnpike open up to six lanes all the way to Houton. The roads in Cumberland County need a major study done traffic is as bad as Boston now the number of traffic lights it killing us traffic back ups for miles. We can not expect big business to…

          • Stop taking our people's license for such a long period and throwing non violent drives in jail this is causing welfare everyday

We need to start focusing on changing our driving laws or license suspension laws we have a high volume of people loosing their license for long periods of time for non violent driving violations some because of their past have been titled habitual offender because they have no other choice but to have insurance some can't always afford this especially when they are in their youth this leads to a rough adulthood once your habitual offender you loose your license for any violation for at least three years this creates welfare people need to drive in Maine to hold a…

eliminating the 9/10th on the price of gasoline by taxing 1/10th more to the price.
We would be the first state to do so and I am sure that 1/10th would equal millions to the state

                • Drug trafficers from out of state should have harsher sentances

If coming to Maine to trade or transport drugs then once caught the individual should face a severe sentance. Min 10 years no good time. Also those who are teens and arriving to sell drugs should face the youth center until age 18 then be transfered to prison for the remainder of a 10 year sentance..

Sentences have become more severe, while work is being done to address the need of critical help for those who want to break free from drug addiction.

                  • Stop tax refunds for welfare recipiants

Why should welfare recipiants receive a "bonus" each tax year in the form of a tax refund check? We work, and pay taxes, and see our tax money handed out to people who didn't work a day over the table.

                    • Tax on Kayaks

I believe it is now time to charge a $5 registration fee for non powerized boats, like kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and dingys. This tax would help track lost items floating out into a lake or ocean. The coast guard already wants the kayaks labeled because they find many floating around every year. Get them registered and they will quickly find the owner, find out if the item was lost, or if a person is missing, and cut down on the manhunt hours. Just because they are not powerized does not mean they should be exempt from registration/tax. The funds…

                      • Being paid to care for your own family member

Why is the State of Maine paying family members to care for their own family members who have disabilities? I was speaking with a lady who was being to care for her own child because he is disabled and under the age of 18. Why? Isn't that child the responsibility of the family member and not the State?

                        • Start taxing Welfare and SSI as Income as Unemployment is taxed

I feel that time has changed and many people are learning on government help instead of working and Unemployment Benefits are taxed as Income, I feel Tanf and SSI which is also a State funding program should also be due to State Taxes as the State is losing monies to these two programs.

                          • Eliminate some mail sent from the unemployment office.

When first signing up for unemployment I received five separate envelopes in the mail the first week. Then there is at least two every week after that. The work search log is the only thing I keep, everything else is wasted paper and postage. Maybe the work search log could be online too and the unemployment office can go completely paperless. Have it optional so that those without access to a computer can still get their paper mail...At least maybe think about consolidating some of those envelopes.

It is very important to read the notices sent by the unemployment insurance program as they include an explanation of your legal responsiblities. In regards to the use of online services, the Department is in the process of updating the computer system to allow claimants to receive and respond to items like work search logs by email or by using online tools.

                            • EBT cards should be used ONLY for buying essentials, not beer and cigarettes!

It is DISGRACEFUL to waste taxpayers money providing beer and cigarettes with EBT cards. If these people are so destitute that they need public assistance, I'm more than willing to help supply basic products but not beer and cigarettes....if they want them, GO TO WORK!

                              • review waste of critical access hospitals, originally maintained to care for patients until they could be transferred for care else where.

critical acces hospitals have moved beyond there original need and are trying to be minimedical centers. keeping patients beyond their allotted 3 days and making then swing bed patients. I have seen this as a money maker to keep administrators in their high paying jobs and finding more ways to charge insurance companies/medicare. The longer a swing patient is in a hospital their still hospital patients and get continued lab test etc. as a higher cost to taxpayers. There has been no monitoring of this misuse and it has gotten out of hand. Maintaining emergency rooms, I agree with. Stablize…

Thank you for your comments. There have been some solid changes in hospitals, as it has been proven that the less time patients spend within a hospital, the quicker they heal.

                                • Care Facilities and Licensing them in Maine - the processes is flawed

Currently Facilities send in fee and application paperwork to relicense their facilities. Then Licensing informs the Fire Marshall offices who then have to go to the location. The facility is not paid if there is no license. Fees can be sent in early - but licensing will not occur if the fire marshall doesn't come out. Why not have the fire inspection be at cost of the provider and that has to be done and paperwork filed when the application goes to state rather than state having to do all of them? They are over a year behind with hundreds…
